NAME: Zachary Selwyn
DATE OF BIRTH: July 04, 1966
BIRTH COUNTRY: United States of America
CURRENT RESIDENCE: United States of America
EMPLOYER: Constellation Plaza
POSITION: Kiosk Vendor

COUNTRY FLAG: Country Flag
PRIMARY ERA: Reformation Era

What is the concept for your character?
Based on Character #1 under Reformation Era from here: https://vault713.com/roleplay/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3455.
Zach is a somewhat neurotic book nerd who pivoted quite naturally into a career as a novelist and a bookstore owner; unfortunately, the books that come most easily to him are romance novels, which he's somewhat ashamed to publish. He publishes under the pen name Gladys Thunderbunny. His strong memory and love of literature make him effective in his day job as the owner of By The Book, where his accurate recommendations have made him a hit. He's surprisingly open-minded for someone so opinionated and bossy. He has an instinct towards distrusting authority, and his bookstore contains books which might be called outright seditious. He's also a trustworthy repository for secrets, which some of his patrons know well.
What other eras will they be active in and what will their job be in each era?
Marauder's Era as a student at Chicago Academy of Wizardry
Legacy Era as a full-time fiction author/historian
Where can we find your character when their story first begins?
Zach mostly spends his time minding his shop. He likes to talk to customers about what books they're looking for; he sees himself as a source of knowledge about the books, not just a salesman. If he thinks that he doesn't have the book they want, he'll say so honestly.
Who is someone from your characters past who influenced who they are today?
Zach had a friend during his childhood and adolescent years who shared his ambitious attitude towards academics and interest in fantasy stories. He credits that friend with most of his successful attempts to deal with his depression during his struggles with it. They are no longer close friends today, because Zach left the friend feeling betrayed and abandoned.
What does your character think their strongest and weakest traits are?
Zach believes his strongest trait is his quick-thinking, his intelligence, and generally his thirst for knowledge. He believes his weakest trait is being overly eager and curious to the point of bothering other people with obnoxious rants on subjects they don't care about, or being overly meddlesome or opinionated.
What is something your character wants but does not have?
Zach would like a personal demiplane where he could go to decompress, while time on Earth remained frozen, waiting for him to return. He would get so much more reading done.
What are their current short term and long term goals?
His current short-term goals are to acquire a new batch of books to stock his store with (on what, he's not sure), to make some new friends (it's so hard as an adult!), and to find a new place to stay- his apartment is feeling a bit cramped. His long-term goals are to become renowned as a purveyor of rare books and publish a book series that deserves more critical acclaim that Gladys' current series of romance novels.
What is something your character would never tell anyone about themselves?
Zach would never share the extent to which he's still waiting for some kind of mythical destiny to come for him; he always felt like he'd grow up to be The Chosen One, but he still hasn't. He still nurtures that hope.

Welcome back, Jarn!

Just a few things to note before we get you sorted and on your way:
  • Looks like we still have your old OOC Account around. We'll need to have you use that account (Jarnvidr) in the future. Let me know if you need help resetting the password.
  • Regarding Zach's Concept, we just need you to rewrite it in your own words, rather than pasting the entry from the Adoptables page.
  • We do not currently have Ilvermorny available for play. You can have Ilvermorny listed as his school for background purposes, but he can't be attending Ilvermorny during an active era. We do have our own school for American witches and wizards, Chicago Academy of Wizardry as an option.
  • Just a note, we do have an existing bookstore in Constellation Plaza called By the Book. Just offering that information in case you wanted to use it for where Zach works, or if you want him working at a competing book store.
Let us know if you have any questions or if you make any changes. Looking forward to getting you sorted!

Hey Jarn! Everything is looking good, sorry this has taken so long, just a minor thing in his main blurb it says he works as a kiosk vendor, but through out the main body talks about By the Book. If you could just adjust everything to reflect him working at the kiosk as well and then reply to this to let us know and a friendly neighborhood Vaultkeeper will have have you sorted and ready to go!
