Skill Certifications
Ever wanted to explore a skill your character might like? Maybe your character would enjoy being recognized for being an expert in their field. Well now you can do just that with skill certifications! This provides loads of roleplaying opportunities for you and your character(s) as well as unlocking certain Special Abilities. Become an adept, an expert, or a master of the following set of skills:

Requirements


Adept
Roleplay 5 threads focusing on and/or using your character's intended skill certification that must be at least 15 posts long and using at least 1 of the prompts within that specific skill certification's guidelines.

Expert
Must already have the Adept level of the skill you would like to be an Expert in. Roleplay 10 threads focusing on and/or using your character's intended skill certification that must be at least 15 posts long and using at least 2 of the prompts within that specific skill certification's guidelines. You must also include an essay of explanation of why they are an expert within your submission form.

Master
Must already have the Expert level of the skill you would like to be a Master in. Roleplay 25 focusing on and/or using your character's intended skill certification that must be at least 15 posts long and using at least 3 of the prompts within that specific skill certification's guidelines. Your character must also create a contribution to their field ("I discovered x wandwood", "I was able to discover this new form of tea leaf reading", etc.).


Apparation

Apparation

The apparation ability allows witches and wizards to travel short distances without the use of transportation such as the Knight Bus, the Floo Network, or brooms. With the apparation ability, your character can leave their house in Liverpool to visit their friend in Hogsmeade in a snap!

Becoming a certified apparation expert opens up all types of roleplaying opportunities for your character. A number of jobs such as the Ministry of Magic and the Daily Prophet need employees skilled in apparation for possible travel around the world.

★ An existing character must at least be an adept at Apparation before becoming an apparation instructor.

Charms

Charms

Charms are the basis of many forms of magic, and while most witches and wizards use charms before any other type of skill, charms can be used for spells both great and small to achieve a number of feats. This skill can be useful for those who will be pursuing advanced skills or applying for many jobs.

Prerequisites & Related Abilities

★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Charms before becoming a Charms professor at any school.
★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Charms before earning a Defensive Magic skill certification.
★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Charms before earning a Healing skill certification.

★ Gain access to a protected object or area by using a charm

Divination

Divination

Divination is a branch of magic that allows witches and wizards to attempt to see into the future or gather insight into future events through various tools and rituals. Seers are naturally drawn to the art of divination, but non-Seers also practice this magic.

A character specializing in divination can go on to become many things – a professor, a respected astrologer, or even use their abilities in the muggle world as a fortune teller.

★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Divination before becoming a Seer.
★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Divination before becoming a Divination professor at any school.

Flying

While most witches and wizards are taught to fly at a young age, it takes great skill and focus to become an expert at flying. Most witches and wizards use this skill for controlling a magical broom, but others may use it for flying carpets or other enchanted objects, which may or may not be legal. This skill can be useful for those who will be professional athletes.

★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Flying before becoming a professional athlete.
★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Flying before becoming a Flying professor at any school.

Herbology

Witches and wizards study plants and their magical properties through herbology. Despite it being an overlooked subject by students, herbology is one of the most useful disciplines the wizarding world has to offer. Professors, potioneers, and wandmakers all benefit from learning the herbology skill.

★ An existing character must at least be an adept in Herbology before becoming a Herbology professor at any school.

Magical History

Magical history is a required study subject for most witches and wizards, but as they say: those who do not study the past are doomed to repeat it. Diligent witches and wizards will be able to use their extensive knowledge of history to enhance their other skills, work their way through wizarding politics, This skill can be useful for those who will be pursuing a career in government, research, education, or a number of other fields.

Magizoology

Magizoology is the study of magical creatures. The creatures studied in magizoology lead to all kinds of contributions to society including the uses of many creature byproducts like scales, feathers, and talons.

Skill certifications in magizoology are good for beast breeders, wandmakers, and Ministry workers.

★ Magizoology is a prerequisite for the animagus ability.
★ An existing character must be an adept before applying to become a Care of Magical Creatures professor at any school.

Potions

Potions
In place of medicine in the form of pills and shots like the muggle world, the magical world depends on potions and those who are skilled at making them. Potions range in difficulty and in type; some can be very easy to make and are used everyday while some are much more difficult and are brewed for very specific purposes.

A character skilled in brewing potions has many uses in roleplay. They can work for apothecaries in Diagon Alley, at St. Mungo's Hospital, or even brew potions as a side business.

Prerequisites & Related Abilities

★ Potions is not a prerequisite for any current special abilities. An existing character must be an adept before applying to become a Potions professor at any of the magical institutions.

Those who study runic magic go on to become professors namely; however, runic magic has been used alongside arithmancy as a more solid form of divination than crystal balls and tea leaves.

Transfiguration

Transfiguration is magic that centers around the alteration of an object by altering the object's molecular structure. This is considered a very difficult branch of magic the more skilled one becomes in it.

Much like potions' complexity, transfiguration can range from turning a rat into a teacup to transfiguring oneself into an animal.

★ Transfiguration is a required skill to become an animagus and to discover one's metamorphmagus ability.
★ An existing character must be an adept before applying to become a Transfiguration professor at any school.

It involves many skills that include herbology and magizoology to figure out the best wand wood and wand core combinations.

★ An existing character must be an adept in Wandmaking before applying to become a Wandmaking professor at any school.
