True to its history, TerrorTours occupies a large, looming Victorian Gothic home in London, England. Through the narrow door and a walk down a long hallway, a client is standing in what could easily be a living room from the same era. Dusty cups, picture frames with black and white photos, and a clock sit on the mantle above the fireplace. There could be other clients waiting in the living room, sipping at tea or flipping through the catalog of various trips the company has to offer.
One by one, travel agents come down the stairs to greet clients and bring them up to the parlors-turned-offices on the second floor of the home. An old woman hobbles in occasionally, without a word, to collect the used cutlery, serve tea, and sandwiches before shuffling off to what must be the kitchens in the back of the home. The rest of the staff's pleasant dispositions greatly contrast with the layout of the building, but one mustn't think too hard on it.
History & Services
Non-magical Victorian England became obsessed with death, murder, and the supernatural starting in the mid-1800s. Murder scenes and death masks were all the rage. Then came Madam Tussaud who created a special room in her museum that featured anything that could be considered macabre. Dark motives, spirits, and tarot cards became less taboo and more interesting, especially among the lower classes though a handful of upper class wives also took an interest in it.
The magical community wasn't impervious to this hype either so an intrepid young wizard decided to capitalize on this. Through his connections with owners of haunted properties, diviners, and plain old good storytellers, TerrorTours was created and operated out of the young man's home. Both non-magical and magical clients soon came through his door, looking to book trips and tours to places considered gruesome, grisly, and downright dreadful.
TerrorTours enjoyed great success throughout the Victorian Era. But intense interest in the things that built the company waned slightly so TerrorTours adjusted. The company still provides trips and tours to haunted houses (and also books clients' stay in them) and famous castles belonging to some of the most powerful witches and wizards like Vlad Tepes (so they claim). However, they also provide services to seemingly mundane locations: the United States, Eastern Europe, Asia, and South America just to name a few. Through TerrorTours, travelers can book everything with them: transportation, accommodations, and adventure & restaurant packages.
