Welcome to Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes! The popular joke shop has locations in both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, and was founded by twins Fred and George Weasley in 1996. The brothers established the shop after being well-known at Hogwarts School for their Skiving Snackboxes and other joke items. The store sells a variety of goods for practical jokers, such as Extendable Ears and a reusable hangman. They also have a line of WonderWitch products geared toward young witches, which includes such products as love potions and pygmy puffs in every color. The store also sells muggle magic tricks as sort of novelty items, since they are not actually magical and do not work. Weasley’s Wizarding Wheezes offers an owl post service for Hogwarts students, delivering fun straight to the Great Hall.

Location

Weasleys Wizard Wheezes is hard to miss when one is walking down Diagon Alley. A large man in the likeness of one of the twins (George? Fred?) is standing straight up from the floor and through the roof of the shop, brandishing a top hat. The store itself has many floors to accommodate the Weasleys’ line of products.

After entering, customers are treated to the experience of having the Product of the Month tested on them. This ranges from ears, tongues, and teeth turning different colors, one’s cloak becoming too small, or one’s voice going a few decibels lower than that of the average human. Customers are welcome to keep the effects active throughout their stay or request an anti-effect (if they’re a stuff shirt).

Trickery
It’s clear by the first step into this wondrous shop that any visitor is in for a treat (or trick)! The walls are splattered with an array of bright colours, furniture is painted vividly and multicoloured streamers are hung from the ceiling. At the counter stands a large model of one of the Weasley twins in a pin-striped suit, almost as if he is the conductor of chaos. The staircase has puns and jokes on each ascending step, up to the balcony where the majority of board games are displayed.

In the red section of the shop are tables filled with love potions, cosmetics and the odd scarf. Items such as pigmy puffs, muggle magic tricks and classic pranks are for sale in the blue section. And, for Halloween, the green section is the prized location for the grotesque sweets, extendable ears, scary masks and disgusting tricks to play on friends. Of course, every day can be Halloween at Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes.

The business is designed for children or adults with a young spirit, aimed to bring jokes and a little bit of madness to the wizarding world. The goal is laughter, and any visitor will come out with some kind of smile on their face from the sheer amount of happiness radiating from the shop. With such a vast amount of choice, Weasley’s Wizard Wheezes is the perfect practical joke shop.
