“An accusation that the Tutshill Tornados were winning the Quidditch league by a combination of blackmail, illegal broom tampering and torture; an interview with a wizard who claimed to have flown to the moon on a Cleansweep Six and brought back moon frogs to prove it; and an article on Ancient Runes which explained why Luna was reading The Quibbler upside down.”

Business Overview

Welcome to The Quibbler Magazine! The Quibbler is a monthly newspaper founded by Xenophilius Lovegood, who also serves as the paper’s Editor-in-Chief and publisher. The Quibbler calls itself ‘The Wizarding World’s Alternative Voice’ in opposition of the often pro-Ministry Daily Prophet. However, the paper has a reputation for being a tabloid and ‘lunatic rag’. It is known for publishing articles on conspiracy theories and anti-government sentiments. It is also well-known for its discussions on imaginary creatures such as Wrakspurts and Crumple-Horned Snorkacks. During the Second Wizarding War, The Quibbler was steadfast in its support of Harry Potter and Albus Dumbledore, which helped give it some more credibility, though this was short lived.

Location

While the Quibbler might present itself as a serious publication, the magazine is self-published by Xenophilius Lovegood himself. The Quibbler’s “offices” are located in the Lovegoods’ rook-like house which sits near the village of Ottery St. Catchpole. How the man manages to print from his home is unknown. Still, whether a reader believes the articles or not, the magazine is a well-designed piece of literature.

An admirer is always welcome at Quibbler headquarters and might even be invited inside for a tour of the humble abode. They might even be invited to a meeting with Xenophilius and his writers as they discuss the week’s conspiracies and creatures over tea.

The main workspace of The Quibbler is above the kitchen in a completely circular room. Around the entire space are stacks of paper written and re-drafted, laid all over the coffee table and the sofas. The walls are decorated with vivid and intense paintings of flowers and woodland creatures, and a large arched window sits between two cluttered bookcases. At the opposite side of the room is the printing press used to create the magazine.

Content
Despite being run within the Lovegood family home, The Quibbler seems to be upholding a remarkable reputation. However, there have been some criticisms regarding the magazine due to its wild and incredibly imaginative content, unusual to publications such as The Daily Prophet. So much so that past writers of the Prophet, such as Rita Skeeter, have been slightly shocked when being published in The Quibbler, perhaps not impressed with being involved with the ‘alternative voice’.

The articles that The Quibbler writes are original and incredibly vivid on topics involving imaginary creatures. At points, the magazine has been known to delve into various conspiracies, either with creatures, products or the government itself. It offers directly toward an alternative audience, lacing in beautiful literature in with its news and ideas. Whether they are meant to be projected as completely fantasy, stretched truths, or simply a new method of informing the public, nobody truly knows.
