Business Overview
Location
The small magical village of Hogsmeade located just a short distance from Hogwarts. It is on the villiage’s main street that Honeydukes Sweetshop can be found. The small, unassuming building is made from the same stones that many of the village’s dwelling are made from. Colorful displays of sugar confections sit in the windows to entice passerby’s to check out the shop’s selection of treats. It is not uncommon for a small line to be forming out the door, as Honeydukes is one of he most popular establishments in all of the United Kingdom.
Inside the shop, hundreds of chocolates and other candies are on display. The shop is colorful, with the walls painted in a rainbow of pastel colors. The store is packed with standing displays selling treats in various flavors, colors, and styles. On one side of the store, confectioners can be seen making hand-crafted, whimsical candies and chocolates. In the back of the store is a cellar where supplies are kept, though it is rumored that there is also as secret passage to Hogwarts located in the cellar as well.
Confectionary
Honeydukes Sweetshop is known worldwide for its large selection of delectable confections. There is something to satisfy every sweet tooth – chocolate cauldrons, peppermint toads, pink coconut ices, Bertie Bot’s Every Flavor Beans and more! The shop sells both hand crafted sweets, such as Honeydukes Mice Pops as well as commercially produced treats like Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum. They also offer a variety of seasonal treats for holidays such as Halloween and Christmas. These are produced in limited quantities and are in high demand.
The shop is owned and operated by Ambrosius Flume and his wife. The pair bought the store in the early 20th century, transforming it from a run-of the mill candy store into the palace of confectionery that it is known for. Mrs Flume can be seen every September 1st selling her store’s wares from a trolley on the Hogwarts Express. Parents may also place orders for custom treat baskets filled with a selection of snacks, games, and trinkets. These baskets are delivered to Hogwarts on the first Saturday of every month.
Honeydukes Sweetshop is a popular destination for Hogwarts students on their weekend trips into Hogsmeade. On these days, the store is standing room only as students from all four houses browse the large selection of treats. The store is a popular tourist stop as well, with people from all over the world stopping by to watch the confectioners work their magic.
A trapdoor in the cellar opens to a secret passageway to Hogwarts. This passageway is best used travelling from Hogwarts to Honeydukes Sweetshop. The passageway is long, dark, and narrow. It takes about an hour of walking to get the end. In order to exit the tunnel and enter Honeydukes, one must go up a steep flight of stairs in which there are two hundred steps.
